2 May 1973 – Change of Command Ceremony

On Wednesday 2 May 1973 a Change of Command Ceremony was held at Soesterberg AB. The Commander of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, Lt. Gen. Wolff, was replaced by Lt. Gen. Knoops.
To celebrate this event, a flyby was held by the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The flyby consisted of 12 Alouette IIIs, 3 F-27s, 11 L-21B Piper Super Cubs, 12 NF-5s and 12 F-104s. The base was not open for the public, only invited guests and air force staff were welcome on base.
