2 August 1966 – F-102A

On Tuesday morning 2 August 1966 around 11 in the morning an explosion took place in the Zulu hangar on Soesterberg AB. The explosion set the hangar in flames within minutes.
The people that were in the hangar at the moment of the explosion managed to get out without injuries.

Unfortunately the F-102 A (56-1029) that was on alert couldn’t be evacuated and was totally destroyed in the fire.
