6 December 1960 – Two Hunters
On the late Tuesday afternoon of 6 December 1960, two Dutch F.Mk.6 Hunters from 326 Squadron returned to Soesterberg Airbase after a mission. When the Hunters made a touchdown, one of the Hunters (N-249) suffered a tire blowout after which it changed course and hit the also landing Hunter N-254.
Although the pilots could leave their aircraft unharmed, both Hunters were severly damaged. The N-254 was written off. The N-249 was repaired and was sold to Jordania in October 1964.
